Managing entire global patent and trademark portfolio of over 4,000 patents and 3,500 trademarks for the North American operations of the Rank Group: consumer products companies having over $12 billion in annual revenue under the Reynolds Group Holdings umbrella (i.e., Pactiv, Reynolds Consumer Products, Closure Systems International, Graham Packaging and Evergreen Packaging) and automotive parts companies having over $1 billion in annual revenue (i.e., Fram Filtration and Autolite), including developing strategic technology areas to drive company innovation, directing innovation and patent filing and maintenance decisions consistent with company objectives, and protecting global patent portfolio through strategic interaction with foreign patent counsel; overseeing patent and trademark litigation on behalf of the company; advising the company on intellectual property transactions including technology development agreements, licensing and mergers and acquisitions; delivering same or greater level of service on an annual basis with a shrinking year-over-year intellectual property budget; integrating new intellectual property portfolios and delivering on cost synergies following acquisitions; advise commercial law team on leveraging IP to drive advantageous commercial arrangements; cooperate with commercial lawyers on packaging, advertising and media review and establish processes to ensure proper functioning of legal department review for such matters; oversee and manage financial, technical, commercial and legal aspects of strategic technology-driven projects across the North American Rank Group companies.
